International Marine Biology Course at Tohoku University

Tohoku University's Research Center for Marine Biology at Asamushi will hold an International Marine Biology Course this summer. The theme is "Introduction of Marine Invertebrates as Tools for Studies on Oocyte Maturation, Fertilization and Early Development."

The course is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are majoring in biology, life science and related fields. Students in courses focusing on developmental biology and embryology to provide experiences with basic
experiments and practices, are especially encouraged to participate.

Marine invertebrates will be introduced as experimental materials, and prior experience handling marine invertebrates is not necessary.

The program is supported by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and participants will be a balanced mix of japanese as well as international students. It is hoped that the course will also provide an oppportunity for the exchange of cultural as well as intellectural ideas.
