Venue: William Gates Building
West Cambridge Site, Cambridge University
15 JJ Thomson Avenue, Cambridge CB3 0FD, UK

A kickoff seminar on 2D electronics and spintronic devices will be held at the University of Cambridge on July 18, prior to the launch of a Research Network project between Tohoku University and collaborating institutions. The topic for the project is Controlled Interfacing of 2D Materials for Integrated Device Technology.

The project is sponsored by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) under the Core-to-Core Program. The program aims to advance research on issues of high international priority by creating core research and education hubs in partnership with top research institutes.

The international project is coordinated by Prof. Tetsuo Endoh, the director of the Center for Innovative Integrated Electronic Systems (CIES) at Tohoku University. An objective of the project is to foster young researchers in developing breakthrough technologies for next-generation semiconductor integrated devices.

Collaborating institutions include:

University of Cambridge: John Robertson, Stephan Hofmann
Hitachi Cambridge: David Williams
CNRS/University of Paris Sud: Pierre Seneor, Albert Fert
Tohoku University: Tetsuo Endoh, Masaaki Niwa, Yasuo Ando, Junsaku Nitta, Kenchi Ito
University of Tokyo: Akira Toriumi,
Tsukuba University: Yasuhiro Hatsugai
