Special Exhibition

Location: Main building

There will be a special exhibition featuring botanical paintings and a cross section of a 300-year-old cedar tree trunk. The trunk was rescued from Nakano Elementary School, which was badly damaged by the tsunami that followed the 2011 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake. The tree was cut down to make way for a playground and what was left of the trunk was put on display at the entrance of the school. When Nakano Elementary School moved, the trunk was gifted to the Botanical Gardens. This is the first time the trunk will be on display since the gardens received it.

* Please be aware that the schedule may change in the case of bad weather. As parking spaces are limited, please use public transport to get to the gardens.
