The Department of Japanese Studies is recruiting for the following position.

|Job description:||Responsible for teaching graduate courses in Cultural Area Studies and undergraduate general education courses|
1) Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent. It must be at least five years since they received their undergraduate degree. Candidates should be able to conduct research at the graduate school and teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
Applicants for the position of associate professor must have at least three years of experience as an associate professor, senior assistant professor, assistant professor or research associate at a university. Applicants for the position of senior assistant professor must have at least one year of experience as a senior assistant professor, assistant professor or research associate at a university.
Applicants who excel in other academic areas may also be considered even if they don't have the required years of experience.
2) Applicants' area of expertise should be directly related to the study of Japan and they must have sufficient academic production in this field. They should be able to participate in activities related to the Tohoku Global Graduate Program in Japanese Studies (to be established in 2019), as well in international exchange projects that the Graduate School of International Cultural Studies may be involved in.
3) As either an associate professor or senior assistant professor at the Department of Comparative Cultures and Japanese Studies, the successful applicant must teach graduate classes in Cultural Area Studies and undergraduate general education courses.
4) Applicants must have the ability to teach and perform administrative duties in both English and Japanese.
