Tohoku University and National Research University - Higher School of Economics (Russia) concluded an Academic Exchange Agreement.
On September 30th, 2014, President Susumu Satomi (Tohoku University) and Rector Yaroslav I. Kuzmino (National Research University - Higher School of Economics (HSE) concluded an Academic Exchange Agreement between their respective institutions.
Following the signing ceremony, Associate Professor Natsue Sugaya (Japanese Education) of Institute for Excellence in Higher Education, Professor Michi Fukushima (Business Administration), Associate Professor Motokazu Matsutani (Deputy Chief Official of the Division of International Education and Exchange) of Graduate School of Economics and Management, and Assistant Professor Masachika Shiotani (Russian Economic History) of the Center for Northeast Asian Studies from Tohoku University introduced their respective graduate schools. Following this, they listened to lectures on education, economics, science HSE professors involved in these fields, and enjoyed a lively exchange of opinions.
Located in Moscow, HSE is a young school, founded in 1992. Despite this, in 2009 it received the status as a National Research University from the Russian government. Research and education at HSE is focused on highly necessary social science fields, such as economics, political science, and East Asian studies.
It is hoped that this agreement will lead to further student and research exchange between both institutions.
