President Olivier Faron and other 2 staff member at Lyon École normale supérieure (ENS) (France) officially visited Executive Vice President Ueki (for International Affairs and Legal Affairs) at Tohoku University on 12 March, 2009.

Tohoku University and Lyon École normale supérieure (ENS) have academic agreement since August, 2008, and at the meeting with President Faron they exchanged the views for promoting the cooperative research and education as well as exchanging students and researchers.
A Memorandum associated with cooperative research and education of COE Program "Gender Equality and Multicultural Conviviality in the Age of Globalization" (Leader: Professor Tsujimura at Tohoku University) and exchanges of students and researchers were signed by Dean of Graduate School of Law and President Faron.
Lyon École normale supérieure (ENS) is one of the top tertiary research and education institutions in France and mainly researches and educates on Arts & Humanities. In recent years, students studying about Japanese culture have been increasing.
