Measures on influenza A (H1N1) taken at Tohoku University

Information on travel to influenza A (H1N1) detected countries

As a numbers of patients infected with influenza A (H1N1) have been detected in Japan, there is no big difference between Japan and countries flu virus circulates. As the purpose of the prohibition of foreign travel has deteriorated, the university determined to lift the prohibition of travel and the standing by at home and to take the following measures:

Staff and students of Tohoku University are strongly advised to not to travel (business travel/ private travel) to influenza A (H1N1) detected countries. If your travel to influenza A (H1N1) detected countries is inevitable, report to Dean or Director is required. After return to Japan, you should take measures by referring to [Cough Etiquette as a Guideline for the New Influenza A (H1N1) Infection], [How to wash your hands properly], [How to wear and take off a flu mask properly] and so on, and are obligated to check body conditions and measure body temperatures during two weeks including your arrival date in Japan. You should submit the health check sheet to Dean or Director.

Information on travel to influenza A (H1N1) detected areas in Japan

As it has been confirmed that a numbers of patients infected with influenza A (H1N1) have been detected in some area of Hyogo and Osaka Prefectures, the university determined to take the following measures:

1) Staff and students of Tohoku University are strongly advised not to travel to influenza A (H1N1) detected areas such as Ashiya and Kobe in Hyogo prefecture, Toyonaka, Ikeda, Suita, Takatsuki, Ibaraki, Yao, Mino and Shimamoto Town in Osaka Prefecture. (Note) If your travel to influenza A (H1N1) detected areas is inevitable, prior report to Dean or Director is required. After return to Sendai, you should take measures by referring to [Cough Etiquette as a Guideline for the New Influenza A (H1N1) Infection] [How to wash your hands properly] [How to wear and take off a flu mask properly] and so on, and obligated to check body conditions and measure body temperatures during two weeks including the day of return to Sendai. You should submit the health check sheet to Dean or Director.

(Note) Please refer to our website to check influenza A (H1N1) detected areas in Japan as flu detected area is expected to expand.

2) After travel to influenza A (H1N1) detected Areas If you have traveled to influenza A (H1N1) detected areas in Japan after 16 May, you should take measures by referring to [Cough Etiquette as a Guideline for the New Influenza A (H1N1) Infection], [How to wash your hands properly], [How to wear and take off a flu mask properly] and so on, and are obligated to check body conditions and measure body temperatures during two weeks including the day of return to Sendai. You should submit the health check sheet to Dean or Director.

Use of surgical alcohol to clean your hands

It is advised to place surgical alcohol near the entrance areas of each building, and use it to clean your hands thoroughly to prevent the spread of any virus.
