Influenza A (H1N1) Guidelines (Tohoku University)

Tohoku University Crisis Management Headquarters has made the following guideline in order to prevent possible spread of Influenza A (H1N1) infection.

1. Tohoku University employees and students are prohibited from official travelling to the following countries until further notice.
    ・Mexico
    ・United States
    ・Canada
    ・United Kingdom
    ・Spain
When it is absolutely necessary for an individual to travel to one of those countries, he/she needs to obtain the permission of the Dean or Department Director. It is also strongly advised not to travel to any country where cases of Influenza A (H1N1) have been detected.

2. Individuals who return from one of the above-mentioned 5 countries are required to stay home for 7 days in principle after their return.

3. Individuals who return from one of the above-mentioned 5 counties are required to monitor their health for 10 days after their return according to the health check sheet and submit the sheet to Tohoku University Crisis Management Headquarters.
If an individual runs a fever or experiences any flu-like symptom, he/she should call Health Administration Center of Tohoku University at the following number to seek advices.

4. While the individuals stay home to monitor their health status, they should avoid going out. When it is absolutely necessary to go out, they should avoid crowds and take every measure to prevent possible spread of infection. (e.g. watching cough direction, washing hands, wearing a mask, etc.)

5. Individuals who return/visit Tohoku University from a country with Influenza A(H1N1) infection but not from one of the above-mentioned 5 countries are required to monitor their health for 10 days to 2 weeks.
