Professor Masataka Nakazawa at Research Institute of Electrical Communication and Professor Kazuo Watanabe at Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University will be awarded 2009 Contribution Prize by Council for Science and Technology Policy
Cabinet office, Government of Japan has announced award winners of Contribution Prize by Council for Science and Technology Policy. The prize is awarded to a person or a group for their outstanding achievements in industry-academia-government collaboration. Professor Masataka Nakazawa at Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University, Director Kazuo Hagimoto at Network Innovation Laboratories, and Department Head Haruki Ogoshi at Telecommunications, Furukawa Electric will be awarded 2009 Contribution Prize by Council for Science and Technology Policy, Prime Minister Prize. Their research is on development and enhancement of Erbium-Doped Optical Fiber Amplifier (EDFA). Professor Kazuo Watanabe at Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, and Senior Researcher Jyunji Sakuraba at Research and Development Center, Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. will be awarded 2009 Contribution Prize by Council for Science and Technology Policy, Prize by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Their Research is on development of Cryogen-free Superconducting Magnet in High-Magnetic fields.
