Professor Masataka Nakazawa at Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University received 2009 Distinguished Achievement and Contributions Award from the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE)

 Professor Masataka Nakazawa at Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University received 2009 Distinguished Achievement and Contributions Award from the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE)

Professor Nakazawa has received 4 times of Best Paper Award, Inose Award, and twice of Achievement Award from IEICE for his outstanding achievements.  The professor has contributed to high development of optical communications including Erbium-Doped Optical Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) for a long time.  He has also been deeply involved in IEICE as chairman of Electronics Society and Society for ultrahigh-speed optical electronics studies.  IEICE has decided to honor Professor Nakazawa with Distinguished Achievement and Contributions Award for his performances.
