2009 | Achievement and Award
Uchida Laboratory and NTT have started a verification experiment for high-definition and high-quality image transmission by using display technologies and Next Generation Network (NGN.)
Uchida Laboratory at Department of Electric Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University (*1) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) have conducted a verification experiment for high-definition and high-quality image transmission by using technologies of high-quality large displays (73, 96 and 160 inches in diagonal) for bright ambient condition as the laboratory’s research results (*1) and Next Generation Network (NGN.)
The research group has aimed to transmit new business models from Miyagi Prefecture. The group has conducted verification studies of Hi-Vision image distribution including Hi-Vision electronic advertisement (Digital Signage) as a new image solution that using the new technologies.
To realize the new joint business starting from Miyagi, HIKARI PARK (an office counter of NTT East) has opened an exhibition booth for the verification experiment, and the opening ceremony has been held on July 22, 2009.
(*1) Uchida Laboratory has conducted researches mainly on liquid crystal displays.
One of elemental technologies is development of large and high-definition rear-projection displays that provide clear images in a bright room by using research results on the Diffusion Light Control Theory
