Kinjiro Okabe and Split-Anode Magnetron were awarded to 2009 One Step on Electro-Technology by The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

As a part of its 120th anniversary celebrations, the institute has presented One Step on Electro-Technology to achievements of electrical technologies that have been developed more than 25 years ago, and continued to keep one of the technical historic value, the social value, or the academic and educational value.

The award aims to honor electrical technologies that have contributed to social lives, and to promote electrical technologies.

The award ceremony will be held at Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University starting at 4 pm on August 21, 2009.
