Associate Professor Yutaka Sato at Graduate School of Engineering received Prof. Koichi Masubuchi Award
Associate Professor Yutaka Sato at Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University received Prof. Koichi Masubuchi Award from American Welding Society. This award was established in 1992 to commemorate Professor Koichi Masubuchi at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and his achievements of welding engineering. One or two under 40-year-old researchers from around the world receive the prize for their outstanding achievements of welding research every year. Associate Professor Sato is the only winner in 2009.
Associate Professor Yutaka Sato is recognized as a young global leader of Friction Stir Welding (FSW) that has gathered attention as an innovative joining technology. The reason to be awarded is his research results of material science including FSW. He has contributed to the development of the joining process and its dependability.
The award ceremony will be held at Chicago, U.S.A. on November 17, 2009.
