Professor An-Pang Tsai at Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials was appointed as professor emeritus by L'institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine (INPL)

 Professor An-Pang Tsai at Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials, Tohoku University was appointed as professor emeritus by L’institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine (INPL), Nancy-Université. The award ceremony has been held at the Nancy Opera House on October 26, 2009. The reason to be appointed was Professor Tsai’s research on Quasi-Crystal synthesis and the development of catalyst. The long-time joint research with INPL has been highly praised.


 Other winners are Emeritus Professor Sir Michael Berry at University of Bristol, UK, Professor Arne Holmgren at Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, and Professor Anne Morpurgo-Davies at Oxford University, UK majoring in physics, life sciences, and linguistic, respectively. The recipients have provided 10-15-minute lectures on their researches that were somber but humorous and satisfying. Professor Tsai thanked Professor Emeritus Ken Masumoto at Tohoku University who provided research opportunities, and described his exiting serendipity and new discoveries during the research process in his speech, which drew applause. He also showed his application for Institute for Materials research, Tohoku University, National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), his colleagues, and his family.

 

 After the ceremony, the commencement ceremony of Nancy-Université was held. The winners, students who completed their doctorates and their family joined a reception in glamorous atmosphere. Professor Tsai’s honor is delightful for Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials, Tohoku University.
