Presentation ceremony of 2009 Tohoku University Contribution Award for Education was held at a meeting room of Education and Student Support Department on January 4, 2010.

 The award was created to honor faculty members whose outstanding achievements in classes, education methods, study support and creative approaches. The university also aims to promote the university education by improving methods and skills.

Reason to receive the award:
Spanish Language Committee has achieved high learning effects by taking communicative approaches. The committee used digital technologies at CALL, a computer room, from various perspectives. Those efforts have increased a number of students who take the Spanish class year by year. Spanish became popular among students following Germany and Chinese as a foreign language class for beginners. A student evaluation shows that the Spanish class received a high reputation.
