President Akihisa Inoue has received Acta Materialia Gold Medal
President Akihisa Inoue, Tohoku University has received Acta Materialia Gold Medal. This prize is awarded to researchers for their demonstrated ability and leadership in materials research. President Inoue has been praised for his outstanding achievements in the development of materials science including bulk metallic glasses.
Acta Materialia, Inc annually presents the Acta Materialia Gold Medal since 1974. The recipients are prominent researchers in the world. President Inoue is the third winner from Japan following Professor Emeritus Jun Kondo at Toho University (Kondo Effect, 1991), Professor Emeritus Ken Masumoto at Tohoku University (Amorphous metals, 1998).
The presentation ceremony has been held at The WPI-AIMR Annual Workshop at Sendai International Center, Miyagi on March 26, 2010. Ted B. Massalski, Professor at Carnegie Mellon University and Executive Secretary at Acta Materialia, Inc, has given the gold medal to the president Inoue.
