2009 Encouragement Award of Lecture by the Japan Society of Applied Physics
Assistant Professor Taketoshi Minato at International Advanced Research and Education Organization, Tohoku University has received 2009 Encouragement Award of Lecture from the Japan Society of Applied Physics.
The reason to be awarded is the discovery of the new electronic state of titanium dioxide, material including for electronic devices and catalysts, by the combination of scanning tunneling microscope and density-functional-theory calculation. The new discovery has demolished the past model believed for more than 30 years.
