Having been selected for Global 30 Project by Ministry of Education,
Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Tohoku University has held a
series of “Tohoku University Day” events in China since 2009 with the
purpose of attracting many more excellent international students to Tohoku
University. Held at partner universities, these events aim to both introduce
Tohoku University and further expand exchange in research and education.
“2010 Tohoku University Day” events were held at the following three
universities in October and November, 2010:
October 15th (Fri) Xiamen University
October 26th (Tue) Tsinghua University
November 5th (Fri) Chongqing University

The events included an introduction of Tohoku University, explanation of
study at Tohoku University, consultation service on study at Tohoku
University, and panel display of introduction of Tohoku University, and were
attended by President Inoue, Executive Vice President Kitamura and
professors from relevant Graduate Schools and Research Institutes.
Each individual event had its own character. At Xiamen University, panels
featuring Lu Xun and Zheng Zhenwen were exhibited to highlight the deep
historical relationship between Tohoku University and Xiamen University. At
Tsinghua University, three academic seminars in the fields of physics,
materials science and economics were held simultaneously, while at Chongqing
University, panels introducing Tohoku University were exhibited at both the
main campus and new campus.
Having received the full cooperation of the host universities, it is hoped
that the Tohoku University Day events will lead to an increase in the
acceptance of international students and further expansion of exchange in
education and research.
