Academic Exchange Agreement with the University of Kwazulu-Natal
President Akihisa Inoue of Tohoku University and Vice-president Tahir Pillay of the University of Kwazulu-Natal have signed an academic exchange agreement between the universities.
The signing ceremony was held with the attendance of Yukihisa Kitamura, Vice-president, Masayuki Yamamoto, Dean of Graduate School of Medicine, Masaaki Sato, Dean of Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering, Toshio Hattori, Professor of Graduate School of Medicine, Tetsuya Kodama, Professor of Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering, and Junichi Hirata, Director of International Exchange Division, Tohoku University.
Tohoku University and the University of Kwazulu-Natal have continued academic exchanges through joint researches on medicine and biomedical engineering such as infection and nanobubble.
The University of Kwazulu-Natal was established in 2004 by merger of the University of Durban-Westville (established in the 1960’s) and the University of Natal (established in 1910). It is located in Durban, Kwazulu-Natal Province, the Republic of South Africa. The university consists of 4 colleges, 8 faculties, 54 schools, and have 40,000 students and 4,300 faculty members.
The newly signed agreement is expected to further promote research and education between the two universities.
