Exhibition "Space Planet Science supported by Tohoku"
After the Japanese space probe “Hayabusa” returned, collected samples were confirmed to be taken from Itokawa. This fact gives us a positive impression and hope. Some faculty members in Tohoku University have been involves with “Hayabusa” project, and the University held an exhibition of the life-size model of “Hayabusa” in the beginning of October this year with a large number of visitors. The new exhibition follows the previous one.
Nation-wide researches and engineers have participated in researches and technical development on space, as well as “Hayabusa,” in Japan. Contributions from universities and businesses in the Tohoku region were significant. The exhibition includes panels showing some research results and technical development used for the sprite-satellite “Rising,” the lunar orbiter “Kaguya,” the space probe “Hayabusa” and the Venus orbiter "Akatsuki," the one-tenth-scale model of “Hayabusa,” a high-sensitive and wide-filed camera mounted on “Rising” and bearing, motor and roll ring module (BMRRM). The event will give local residents, especially high-school students, an opportunity to know that state-of-the-art researches related to space have been conducted in their home town. The details are shown below.
