The First JSPS IKUSHI Prize
Ken-ichi Uchida, Doctoral Student, at Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University received the first IKUSHI Prize from Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). The presentation ceremony was held at the Japan Academy Hall with the attendance of the Emperor and Empress on February 1, 2011.
The prize was established in 2010 with the aim to support and nurture young researchers who have pursed their studies or researches in difficult economic environment. With the assistance of an Imperial donation, it is given to talented doctoral students who are expected to contribute to the development of academic researches in Japan in order to further increase their motivation for studies.
