Professor Mitsuru HAGA at the Center for the Advancement of Higher Education received the Archaeological Award from the Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Professor Mitsuru HAGA at the Center for the Advancement of Higher Education, Tohoku University, received the Hirayama Ikuo Archaeological Award and Medal from the Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan on June 15th, 2011 at Tashkent.
The award, named after the great Japanese artist Hirayama Ikuo who had devoted his life to the culture of the Silk Roads, is given to scholars who have contributed to the field of history and archaeology of the Silk Roads.
This time, the prize was awarded on the basis of Professor Haga's outstanding achievements in the study of the History of the Eurasian Continent in the Hellenistic Age, Alexander the Great's Campaign and his excavations on the Greco Bactrian - Kushan City "Kampyr-tepa" on the right bank of the Amu-River, running between Uzubekistan and Afghanistan.
