Development of a prototype Microminiature Near-Infrared Spectroscopy for brain imaging
A research group led by Professor Ryuta Kawashima at Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer, Tohoku University, and Hitachi, Ltd. have developed a prototype Microminiature Near-Infrared Spectroscopy for measuring changes in blood flow in the frontal lobe associated with brain activities, as part of the JST program. This achievement is expected to be applied to cutting-edge research areas, such as "Interdisciplinary Brain Science", which aims at the elucidation of how the human brain interacts in the community various people live in.
