Blood pressure elevation sustained during 4 weeks after the Great East Japan Earthquake -Proposal for countermeasures to chronic diseases of disaster-afflicted people-
A research group led by Professor Yutaka Imai at Tohoku University Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences has revealed that hypertensive patients steeply increased their blood pressure and had kept it higher than as usual during 4 weeks after The Great East Japan Earthquake had occurred.
This achievement has been published online in Hypertension (doi: 10.1161/HYPERTENSIONAHA.111.184077). The paper's title is "Acute and Subacute Effects of the Great East Japan Earthquake on Home Blood Pressure Values."
In addition, we have proposed how to deal with such acute blood pressure elevation at the 34th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Society of Hypertension held on October 20, 2011.
