Dr. Masato Sagawa at Intermetallics Co., Ltd., who invested Nd-Fe-B type permanent magnet, was chosen to receive 2012 Japan prize. He graduated the doctoral program at Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University. He has been conducting researches on decreasing use of rare-earth in Nd-Fe-B type permanent magnet and developing alternative materials of Nd-Fe-B type permanent magnet, in collaboration with a research group led by Professor Sugimoto at Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University.
