Associate Professor Haruki Kitazawa of Graduate School Agricultural Science, Tohoku University has been awarded the 2012 Japanese Association for Food Immunology Award. The awards ceremony and lectures will be presented during the 8th Annual Japanese Association for Food Immunology Congress on Wednesday October 17 at the Yakult Hall.

The award system recognizes the remarkable achievement of the members, and their contribution to the basic research and applications in the field of Food Immunology while furthering the goals of the academic association and expected ancillary future applications. Associate Professor Haruki Kitazawa's basic and applied research on lactobacillus and immunology has been appraised as beneficial for future uses and applicable in a variety of fields and to the general society.
