Successful electrical control of electron spin into a persistent spin state -A step toward next generation low power high-speed semiconductor devices-

Associate Professor Makoto Kohda, Doctoral Student Yoji Kunihashi, and Professor Junsaku Nitta of Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University, in cooperation with a research group at Universität Regensburg (Germany), became the first in the world to successfully create a suppression of spin relaxation due to unidirectional effective magnetic field (persistent spin helix state) using the semiconductor based transistor structure.
