New aspect of phase-transformation mechanism in glass: Further developments toward new nano-dielectric material
A research group led by Assistant Professor Yoshihiro Takahashi and Professor Takumi Fujiwara of Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University in collaboration with Associate Principal Investigator Minoru Osada, International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics, National Institute for Materials Science has found the formation of anti-ferroelectric nanocrystalline NaNbO3 with a size of less than 5nm in glass and succeeded in elucidating its mechanism. This research contributes to a further knowledge of random-structure materials and will lead the way towards the development of new lead-free ferroelectric materials. The research results will be published in a British online scientific journal, Scientific Reports. The paper's title is "Structural relaxation and quasi-elastic light scattering in glass: Approach by ferroelectric and ion-conducting phases."
