Measured the copy number limits of all genetic material of yeast for first time in any species

A group led by Associate Professor Hisao Moriya (Special Appointment) of Research Core for Interdisciplinary Science, Okayama University has succeeded in measuring all genetic material copy number limits of yeast.

 

The research study was jointly conducted with Assistant Professor Takashi Makino of Graduate School of Life Sciences, Tohoku University, and the results have been published online on December 28, 2012 in the breaking news portion of the American journal Genome Research. The paper's title is "Identification of dosage-sensitive genes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae using the genetic tug-of-war method."
