Development of production techniques for graphene using supercritical fluids

A research group headed by Professor Itaru Honma and Assistant Professor Takaaki Tomai, Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials, Tohoku University has developed a process using supercritical fluids for the mass production of graphene, an innovative carbon material.

Since the production of high quality graphene is now possible with the use of fast and low cost processes, further practical applications are expected such as lightweight high-strength structural elements, battery materials, electronics, electricity generation, power generation, and other various energy technologies beyond current uses in materials for electric components.
