The deviation and distortion in official statistics regarding the health and welfare in disaster affected areas: Health care related costs reduced, nursing needs reduced, low suicide rates?
Prior to the end of two year period after the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster, the research group led by Professor Hiroshi Yoshida, Graduate School of Economics and Management, Tohoku University, compiled and compared the government's official integrated healthcare and welfare statistics before and after the disaster. There is a high possibility that the current official statistics cannot be linked with actual needs and servicing of the health and psychiatric welfare of the people in the affected areas.
