Open Public Facilities

  • The Tohoku University Museum

    At Tohoku University a number of various academic resources and materials have been preserved through studies of Arts, Social Sciences, and Nature Sciences within its 100 years' history. The Tohoku University Museum maintains and collects all these resources as well as research using these resources in cooperation with researchers from outside and inside of the university. Moreover, this museum is the institute to deliver the latest research development to the community as a symbol of the university.

  • Tohoku University Archives (Japanese)
    This facility preserves and exhibits the official records and historical resources associated with Tohoku University and former faculty members.
  • Tohoku University Botanical Garden (Japanese)
  • Tohoku University Centennial Hall (Kawauchi Hagi Hall) (Japanese)
    Regard with Tohoku University the 100th Anniversary, Tohoku University Centennial Hall (Kawauchi Hagi Hall) was reconstructed from Matushita Hall. This hall is opened for public and accepts application from public.
  • University Library
    Tohoku University library is available not only for students and faculty members but also for public. The library preserves two national treasures; "Karino-collection which is "famous for Edo culture, and "Natsume-collection"which includes autograph copy written by Soseki Natsume and other related resources. These resources are publicized on the web. At the entrance of the library "permanent exhibit" is displayed, and "special exhibit" is displayed in autumn. At this exhibition, rare resources are opened to the public.
  • Tohoku University Hospital (Japanese)
    With the respect of the philosophy of "aiming at balancing the Patient-centered medicine and highly-advanced medical technology", Tohoku University hospital intends to be a open public hospital which responds the needs from society in addition to foster medical staffs with a rich sense of humanity.
