The reason to be awarded is his achievements on synthesis, isolation and investigation of Trisilaallene. The award was established in 1960 by American Chemical Society and is given to researchers who have made outstanding contributions in Silicon Chemistry. He became the second recipient of the award in Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University, after Professor Emeritus Hideki Sakurai.         <![CDATA[<p>Specially Appointed Professor Akira Endo (Graduate School of Agricultural Science) was selected as a National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF) 2012 Inductee. The NIHF is a U.S. not-for-profit organization dedicated to recognizing, honoring and encouraging invention and creativity through the administration of its programs. As of 2011 there were 460 inductees. The reason to be awarded is to discover a substance which lowers blood cholesterol from blue mold on a rice grain and to lead to the development of statin which pioneered the class of drugs targeted at lowering cholesterol.         <![CDATA[<p>International Bio-molecular Design Competition (BIOMOD) hosted by Wyss Institute at Harvard University is an international competition for students in which they design biomolecules with novel functionalities such as molecular robots in nanometer-scale. 21 teams from 10 countries have participated in the first BIOMOD competition on November 5, 2011. They have competed in showing their movies and making their presentations of their achievements.
