International students on campus can apply for scholarships which are funded by the Japanese government or private foundations. However, the number of scholarships is limited and all scholarship programs are very competitive.

A. Major scholarship programs

Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarships (Domestic selection)
Scholarships by JASSO (Japan Student Service Organization)
Scholarships by Local Governments and International Associations
Scholarships by Private Foundations

Note: Stipend and allowances vary according to the scholarship programs.

B. Eligibility for application

Applicants should be currently enrolled in a university. Other eligibility for application varies according to the scholarship programs.

C. How to apply

Those who wish to apply may sign up at the instruction section of their departments. Please check the notice board regularly, as announcements regarding the scholarships will be posted.
