The Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR) at Tohoku University invites applicants capable of engaging in data science related to materials science to apply for a recently opened position. Based on the applicant's research experience, publication history and contribution to the field, the position will either be for a tenured Principal Investigator (Professor) or a tenure-track Junior Principal Investigator (Associate Professor).
AIMR was established in 2007 as one of the WPI research centers. It aims to lead materials research beyond conventional ideas and use interdisciplinary approaches.
Since 2012, AIMR has promoted collaboration between materials science and mathematics, with the institute now comprising five research groups: Materials Physics, Non-equilibrium Materials, Soft Materials, Device/System, and Mathematical Science.
AIMR welcomes highly motivated candidates with a solid academic background and a strong intention to participate in interdisciplinary research in a diverse pool of research fields. Further information can be found here.
