Recruitment Notice: Assistant Professor

The Graduate School of Life Sciences at Tohoku University seeks to hire an assistant professor to conduct research and teach in fields related to macroecological and biogeographical modeling.

Applicants should have a strong research record in species distribution / niche modeling or biodiversity modeling, spatial modeling and mapping, and the effects of global change on biodiversity. They should also be skilled in R programming and GIS. Those with experience researching ecosystem functions and services, phylogenetics and phylogeography are preferred but not necessary.

The successful candidate will be tasked with lecturing and developing materials for undergraduate ecology, particularly on topics regarding community ecology, biogeography, and macroecology. They will collaborate with Associate Professor Jamie M. Kass on cutting-edge macroecology research, as well as assist in supervising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.

Those capable of working in an international, collaborative environment where both English and Japanese are spoken are encouraged to apply.
