The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Tohoku University's Graduate School of Engineering seeks to appoint a professor to work within its tentatively named Geosphere and Geotechnical Engineering Division.
The division's mission will be to teach and research on infrastructural surveys, designs, construction and maintenance related to the geosphere and ground. The division's remit will also extend to preventing and mitigating geohazards, in addition to creating and utilizing the geosphere environment.
Successful candidates will be engaged in education and research in these fields, as well as administrative duties.
This division is also expected to utilize innovative digital technologies and data-driven approaches to promote research based on geomechanics and geotechnical engineering.
