On March 9, Tohoku University commemorated its rich tradition of cooperation with French research institutes by hosting France's Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA) Director Frédéric Fotiadu, Centrale Lyon Director Pascal Ray, and Lionel Buchaillot, Director of the CNRS Institute for Engineering and Systems Sciences (INSIS). The delegation met with President Teiji Tominaga, as well as university representatives including Executive Vice Presidents Toshiya Ueki and Asako Sugimoto, and Chief Global Officer Marie-Pierre Favre.
The French delegation's visit was to commemorate the 10th anniversary of ELyTMaX, a research laboratory through which Japanese and French researchers conduct joint research, and ELyTGlobal, a multilateral network that facilitates collaboration among researchers in Japan and France.
After listening to President Tominaga's opening remarks, Director Fotiadu and other representatives of the French delegation expressed their gratitude for the collaborations fostered through ELyTMaX activities, as well as their hopes for strengthened cooperation going forward.

Both sides discussed potential areas for future collaboration. As Tohoku University has been designated a University for International Research Excellence, they also explored the possibility of expanding cooperation beyond research into a broader range of activities. ELyTMaX and ELyTGlobal now enter their next decade with strengthened collaborative efforts.
