This year's Chicago-Tohoku Quantum Alliance Week kicks off on July 29 with three fun and exciting quantum-related events, two of which are open to the general public.
For elementary, middle and high school students, Tohoku University's popular Open Campus will feature a quantum game experience corner designed by the University of Chicago.
And for graduate students and young researchers, there will be a workshop and mentoring programme in Tokyo, as well as a private tour of Tohoku University's research labs.
Workshop for Creating Quantum Startups in Japan

A workshop and mentoring programme will be hosted by Tohoku University, the University of Chicago and the Quantum Strategic Industry Alliance for Revolution (Q-STAR), to help young researchers and graduate students take steps from basic research to commercialization in the quantum field.

Tohoku University Open Campus (July 30 - 31, Sendai)
Experience the mechanisms and excitement of quantum science through the Quantum Board Game and Quantum Maze Game developed by the University of Chicago. The exhibit will provide easy-to-understand explanations of the fascinating world of quantum science. Faculty and students from the University of Chicago will also participate, making it a great opportunity for those who want to practice their English!

Tohoku University Tour
There will be a private tour on August 1 - 2 of Tohoku University's research labs for students and researchers visiting from the University of Chicago. This event is by invitation and not open to the public.
The Chicago-Tohoku Quantum Alliance was established in 2023 to support the development of quantum technology across Japan by offering programmes accessible to the public. It also aims to promote joint research between the University of Chicago and Tohoku University in the field of quantum science, and to facilitate student exchanges, collaboration with industry, and the acceleration of startups.
