Tohoku University Hospital and Oulu University Hospital to Ink Memorandum of Understanding

Tohoku University Hospital located in the City of Sendai, Japan, and Oulu University Hospital, located in the City of Oulu, Finland, will host an online signing ceremony to commemorate the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two hospitals.

The signing ceremony, which takes place online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, will feature a brief introduction of the MOU, live messages from the Mayors of the City of Sendai and the City of Oulu and statements from the Embassy of Finland in Japan and Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan in Finland. A detailed program can be found here.

The ceremony is open to the press and members of the universities online via Microsoft Teams.

The MOU is based on the Co-Incubation Agreement for industry promotion between the City of Oulu, BusinessOulu, the City of Sendai and Sendai City Industrial Promotion Organization.

Oulu and Sendai first signed a co-incubation agreement in 2005, and they have renewed it several times since. The most recent renewal came in November 2019 and placed high-tech industries as the focal point for collaboration.

The Tohoku University Hospital - Oulu University Hospital MOU will foster greater cooperation between the two organizations, including the promotion of smart hospitals.
