EVP Ueki Attends AEARU's 48th Board of Directors Meeting

Executive Vice President Toshiya Ueki attended the 48th Board of Directors Meeting of the Association of East Asian Research Universities (AEARU), hosted online by Yonsei University on April 14.

The main purpose of these meetings is for the vice presidents and directors of member universities to discuss and approve matters related to the operation and finances of the association. Since 2020, Tohoku University and Osaka University have held the two-year rotating position of representing Japanese member institutions.

The Board heard reports on programs and projects implemented after last year's annual meeting, such as the "Global Learning Initiative Program," an online student exchange. Members shared feedback, and agreed on future plans for the program. The members were very positive and optimistic that exchanges between universities in the East Asian region will increase as a result.

The next Board of Directors Meeting will be held this fall in conjunction with AEARU's annual meeting for 2021, hosted by the University of Tokyo.
