Visit from VP of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology

On November 5, Vice President Jinn P. Chu of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) visited Tohoku University. He paid a courtesy call on Executive Vice President Toshiya Ueki, with whom he exchanged opinions on future academic exchanges.

EVP Ueki was joined by NTUST Professor Lu-Sheng Hong, who is a visiting professor at the Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials (IMRAM).

NTUST is Taiwan's leading institute for science and technology, widely recognized for its many collaborative activities with industry. It is also increasingly focused on internationalization, recently establishing a liaison office in Tokyo to facilitate more regular student and faculty exchanges with Japanese universities.

VP Chu expressed his confidence that Tohoku University will become an important partner for NTUST, especially in economics and engineering, fields in which both universities have a common strength.

The meeting ended with an informal agreement to explore possible academic exchanges in the near future.
