Miyagi prefecture is offering financial aid in the form of small loans to residents who have lost their jobs or who are otherwise struggling financially due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Details of these emergency subsistence loans can be found on the official Miyagi Council of Social Welfare website. The website is only in Japanese, but offer important and specific information about application procedures and eligibility, so students are urged to read the instructions carefully.
In general, the Miyagi government is offering loans of up to 100,000 yen with no interest and no guarantor required. Households specifically affected by school closures can apply for up to 200,000 yen.
Repayment will be in the form of monthly deductions from the bank account of the loan holder, and will begin after a grace period of up to one year.
