As we head into cooler weather, why not kick back and relax with a crisp and refreshing Tohoku University IPA?

The limited edition brew, featuring a label designed by Tohoku University students along with Great Dane Brewing's ever-popular Everyday IPA, will debut this weekend at a pre-sale event on September 22 at Fujisaki Department Store.

Visitors to Tohoku University during its Homecoming Day festivities on September 28 will also find limited quantities of the beer on sale before it goes on general sale at Great Dane Brewing's restaurant and online store starting September 30.

The label pays homage to Great Dane Brewing's Wisconsin origins while drawing inspiration from its new home in Akiu, where the brewery opened its first overseas location in 2023. The label designers - a mix of domestic and international students - visited Akiu back in June, where they toured both the local area and the brewery itself.

A portion of the sales will be donated to the Tohoku University Fund, which supports the university's international exchange programs.

The Tohoku University - Great Dane Brewing collaboration is the second initiative of the university's "Students x Jimoto Project," which features a series of collaborations between international students, domestic students, and local companies. The project was launched earlier this year to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the university welcoming its first international student.
