Tohoku University and University College London (UCL) are contributing matching funds to support research and exchange activities jointly conducted by researchers at both universities beginning next academic year.
In order to qualify for funding consideration, proposals must be in areas of mutual interest that will strengthen the partnership between Tohoku University and UCL, and must include participants from both institutions.
If you wish to apply for this third round of funding, please do so through UCL's online application form by November 15, 2020, after consulting with your colleague(s) from UCL on the content of your application.
Online applications will be processed by researchers at UCL, who will act as the projects' representatives.

From October 5, 2020 (Mon) to November 15, 2020 (Sun)
Research Areas:
Applications from all fields are welcome. Priority will be given to proposals from the following fields: Disaster Science, Neuroscience, Materials Science, Data Science, Higher Education, Equality and Diversity, and Ageing.
※For this round, the panel also invites proposals aimed at addressing and mitigating the health, social, economic, cultural and environmental impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Funding Period:
From April 1, 2021 (Thu) to March 31, 2022 (Thu)
※However, due to both universities' financial years being different, the funding periods at each university will differ.

The fourth round of funding is scheduled to run from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. The call for applications for that round is scheduled to begin in July 2021 and conclude in October 2021.
