APRU-IRIDeS Multi-hazards Virtual Summer School 2020

This annual summer school is organized by the APRU Multi-Hazards Program and the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) at Tohoku University.

The event aims to draw on lessons learnt from the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, and showcase the collective expertise of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities on disaster risk reduction (DRR). Speakers and participants will discuss disaster risk management strategies and ways to contribute to international policy-making in order to improve DRR.

This summer school is being held online for the first time and will comprise three separate sessions. It is open to anyone who is interested, but registration is required.

Sessions and Themes:

Day 1: July 15, 11am - 1pm (JST)
Theme: Lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami

Day 2: July 22, 11am - 1pm (JST)
Theme: Role of various stakeholders in disaster risk reduction (DRR)

Day 3: July 29, 11am - 1pm (JST)
Theme: Latest research in disaster science
