The 14th Kavli Asian Winter School

The 14th Kavli Asian Winter School on Strings, Particles and Cosmology will take place at Tohoku University for two weeks in January 2020.

The event serves as a follow-up to Tohoku University's Tohoku Forum for Creativity's thematic event entitled "String Math." That event involved a conference that took place in June 2018.

The Asian Winter School seeks to give young researchers in Asia the opportunity to come together and learn about the latest developments in high energy theory. The school contributes significantly to educational exchanges across the Asian region.

Since 2006 the school has been hosted on rotational basis between Japan, China, India, and Korea. The school receives generous support from the Kavli Foundation.

With Tohoku University as host, participants will get to explore the wonders of Sendai. The school this year features a two-day trip to the town of Zao, just south of Sendai. Zao is famous for its lush surroundings, its hot-springs, and ski-resort.

Participants will be provided with accommodation and three meals a day.

The deadline to apply is October 1, 2019, with selection results being confirmed by the end of October.
