How about taking a break from the books and getting outdoors to join the Spring Marine Sports Festival on June 17?
The spring time rowing event will be held on the scenic waters of Kamafusa Dam, just a 30 minute drive from Sendai. All are welcome, and Tohoku University's Rowing Club will provide training for beginners.
When: Saturday, June 17
Time: 10am~3pm
Where: Kamafusa Dam, Kawasaki (30 mins by car from Sendai)
Who: Tohoku University staff and students
Maximum number of participants: 16 (first to register)
Crew: Each team should have four members (staff/student mixed teams are ok). For safety, an experienced coxswain from the rowing club will lead the crew. If a team has fewer than four people, members of the rowing club will make up the extra numbers.
To register, fill out the application here and send your form to sta-kagai@grp.tohoku.ac.jp by May 31.
Teams will be expected to attend at least one, 1 hour practice session between June 3~16. Please see the application form for further details.

The event will be cancelled in the case of bad weather.
Public transport to the venue is available, as are parking spaces for those going by car.
