The Tohoku Forum for Creativity (TFC) is inviting proposals for the thematic program for the 2027 academic year (April 2027 - March 2028).

Thematic programs consist of the long-term stay of invited researchers, and the hosting of multiple events such as conferences, workshops and tutorial sessions. They also aim to find solutions to important problems, facilitate interdisciplinary research and inspire young researchers.

Proposals can be from any branch of research and can be submitted by researchers working at any institution around the world, as long as at least one member of the organizing committee is from Tohoku University.

Successful proposals will get:

• financial support of 5 - 10 million yen *
  (* potentially 5 - 15 million yen if budget increases are approved)
• help with program planning and other administrative and logistic support
• the use of the House of Creativity, which has a lecture theater, discussion areas and office space for invited researchers

TFC is a premier international visitor research center, established in 2013 to facilitate collaborative research that identifies and addresses urgent global issues. It also aims to develop innovative ideas and deeper theoretical foundations through intensive, focused discussions.
