Tohoku University will be selling its original design Tsubame-branded notebook later this summer, featuring motifs of the university's alumni song "Midori-no-Oka," written by singer-songwriter Kazumasa Oda.
The notebook's cover features a sketch by Oda - who is also an alumnus of the university - while the inside pages contain images and production notes of the song.
"Sendai is known as 'mori no miyako,' so we have created a notebook that allows you to feel the scenic beauty of our city of trees," said Asako Terui, director of the Public Relations Office. "We hope it will be enjoyed not only by students, faculty and alumni members, but also by those associated with our university and fans of Kazumasa Oda."
While the notebooks will officially go on sale in August, there will be a sneak preview and pre-sale during the Tohoku University Open Campus on July 26 and 27. Limited copies will be sold at selected bookstores on campus.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale will go to the Tohoku University Fund and earmarked for educational and research activities.
